How do I find out which actions the game uses?
In the "Learn it" section we go through all the actions one by
one.
How do I get back to the main menu page?
Press the "menu" button in the top right hand corner of the
screen.
This button is not visible while a game is in progress, but will
reappear when the game is over.
What does the "Test it" section do?
After you have read the "Learn it" section you now have a chance
to try out all the actions.
As you perform any action the device will tell you what it
recognised that action to be - so if you touch the screen with one
finger the device will report a "Touch it".
This is your opportunity to ensure that you are getting consistent
results, for example if you perform multiple "Lift its" and the
device recognises them every time then you are on track for a
higher score.
Perform any action and check that the device recognises what you
think you are doing!
I have a great score and I want to show off to my friends
Go to the "Brag it" page,
Take a screen shot of your leader board by pressing and holding
the sleep / wake button (at the top) and pressing the Home button
(the round button at the bottom) at the same time.
You now have a picture of your leader board in your photos to
email to your friends, post on your Facebook page, flickr or
anywhere you want to share your great score!
Email us your "Brag it" pictures and
we will display them on our website. Remember to include your name
and where you are.
Trouble shooting:
The game keeps stopping and saying "too slow"
Speed is an important part of this game, you have to perform the
action within a small timeframe. If you are being too slow then you
need to act quicker to keep the game going
The device won't recognise my "Whip its"
Whip it is a sharp, strong movement in a sideways motion.
As you hold your device parallel to the ground and move it quickly
sideways (in either direction) keep your device flat as you move,
if you move upwards or downwards while you are moving sideways then
the device may also register a lift or a drop - and your results
will not be consistent.
Make sure you are getting the action correct every time in the
"Test it" section.
The device won't recognise my "Lift its"
Lift it is a sharp, strong movement in an upward
direction.
As you hold your device parallel to the ground and move it quickly
keep your device flat as you move, take care not to move downwards
first (even slightly!) if you move downwards first then the device
may also register a drop - and that particular game will be
over.
Also make sure you lift straight up - not diagonally - as the
device may think that you are performing a Whip it.
Make sure you are getting the action correct every time in the
"Test it" section.
The device won't recognise my "Drop its"
Drop it is a sharp, strong movement in a downward motion, keep
hold of your device!
As you hold your device parallel to the ground and move it quickly
keep your device flat as you move, take care not to move upwards
first (even slightly!) if you move upwards first then the device
may also register a lift - and that particular game will be
over.
Also make sure you drop straight down - not diagonally - as the
device may think that you are performing a Whip it.
Make sure you are getting the action correct every time in the
"Test it" section.
I am not getting as far on in the game as I could do
When the game is over it tells you why. Either you were "too
slow" and in that case you will have to be faster to respond to the
commands next time.
If it asked for one action and you performed another then the game
will tell you what happened.
Most of the time you know that you Whipped it when you were asked
to Lift it, but if you think you Lifted it when it asked for a Lift
it and it still failed then go back to the "Learn it" and "Test it"
sections to ensure you a performing the action correctly.
I have to make big movements for my device to register a" whip
it", "Drop it" or "Lift it", can I correct this?
&
My device is registering an action with the tiniest of movement,
when I am trying to just hold the device still, can I correct
this?
YES
The sensitivity of the accelerometer is slightly different between
the iPhone and the iPod touch so you can adjust the sensitivity in
the settings, to get the game just right for you.
In your device's "settings" go to the iTouch iT app.
Here you will see two sensitivity bars one for whip it (sideways
moments) and one for Drop its and Lift its (upward and downward
movements).
If you find that you have to make huge movements for the device to
register an action then turn the setting up.
If you find that you only need to make tiny movement for the
device to register a movement then turn the sensitivity down.
You need to make short, sharp movements for each action so adjust
the sensitivity in order for you to perform the action and return
the device to the starting position before the next action is
requested.
Simply put:
If it is registering an action in the tiniest of movements then
turn the sensitivity down.
If you need to make huge movements then turn the sensitivity
up.
I can't hear anything
Ensure your volume is turned up and your mute is
deactivated.
With 1st generation iPod Touches you will have to use headphones
or external speakers, though you can play the game in silence if
you want it to be even harder!
I'm left handed can I turn the icons
around?
YES!
In our tests left handed people and right handed people had no
clear preferences regarding the hand they held the device in - so
we made the game work for everyone.
In your device's settings we ask if you are holding your device in
the left hand.
If you are, and want to use your right hand for the screen taps
then pick "YES" here.
This will turn the "Swipe it" icon and the "Whip it" icon
around
I'm left handed and want to use my left hand to tap, so I hold the
device in my right hand, so therefore I choose NO in the
settings.
You can "Whip" and "Swipe" in either direction regardless of the
direction of the icons, it just is more comfortable on the eye.
